Flat Track weekend Lelystad
Last year, as a season closer, we raced at DTRA Greenfield in UK, on friday we participated in the Happy Trails schooling class by American pro flat track rider Jeffrey Carver. The chance to get to train and meet our racing idol, we had a good connection and that was the start of having Jeffrey over a year later at our ‘The Roadshow training weekend’ at Dirt Track Lelystad. We’ve let Jeffrey know about our upcoming event that we were organising and asked if he wanted to do an exclusive class on Friday. He did not hesitate and was very excited to join us and be part of the event.
Dirt Track Lelystad, located in The Netherlands, is one of the best flat track short tracks in Europe and maybe even the world, many riders who rode all over the world can agree. It is fucking awesome.
The weekend was all about learning and having a good time with like minded people. At the beginning of the weekend we gave a short briefing about safety and house rules, the only way to have fun on a track is by everyone knowing what to do and what not to.
On Friday we held the ‘Happy Trails Class’ with Jeffrey giving tips & tricks on and off the track. Participants learned about everything on and off the track like bikes setup, line choices, mental state of mind, nutrition, rehydration, AFT insider stories, and so on.
On Saturday riders could enjoy and expand their skill set all day long. In the evening we made a long table and had a awesome dinner all together with good music and motorcycle talks. On the menu: meatball spaghetti with a salad on the side finished with a chocolate mousse desert. After dinner we had some ‘just for fun’ races, everyone could use what they’ve learned in a real battle. Our good friend Jan Crommelinck from Aeroplayfilms filmed everything with his FPV drone, insane cool footage that lets you relive the moment and feel the excitement.
At the end of the weekend we did a little price giving, best vintage style, best slide, newbie rider appreciation, best bike, best spirit,.. Deus gave us a bunch of goodies we could give away and we custom made number boards with Jeffrey’s number #23, signed by the Wizard himself. Happy faces everywhere.
A weekend like this is fuel for your soul! We are already planning next years event in May 2024.
